$230K for teams with Police & military backgrounds to ‘battle’ beggars in Hamilton – the new face of ‘humanitarianism’?

Who ever would have thought four decades ago that NZ would ever come to this? A country that once saw all were housed and had jobs until treasonous Roger Douglas got all the corporate snouts in the public trough & sold us down the river. I’ve read recently that studies reveal it Is cheaper to actually house the homeless than to spend this kind of money policing them.

Giving Homes to the Homeless is Cheaper Than Leaving them on the Street. Here’s Proof
One study cited by Mother Jones tracked 4,679 chronically homeless people in New York City and found that their emergency room visits, jail costs, shelter stays, and other uses of public welfare programs cost, on average, $40,449 per person, per year. When they were put in supportive housing, the state saved $16,282 per person. Denver conducted a similar study and found that for each homeless person given supportive housing, taxpayers saved $17,858 per person each year over a two-year period. And according to a Mother Jones infographic, support housing for a homeless person in Los Angeles’ Skid Row cost taxpayers just $605 per person, per month, as opposed to $2,897 per person per month if they remained on the street.   READ MORE AT THE LINK

Read stuff’s article below on how NZ is literally tackling poor vulnerable citizens forced to live on the streets. In a proven not cost effective way.  How ever will the government house the incoming thousands of refugees I wonder? After all they’ve hocked off a large chunk of our state owned houses (to profiteer on the real estate under them) and they could’ve kept those for refugees and Kiwis … and they’re now building high rise stack and pack apartments in the cities instead. High rise chicken coops all wired up to 5G no doubt. And their goal with this mission here is to make you feel safer? EWR

From stuff.co.nz

“Hamilton City Council has recruited a team of five to combat begging in the suburbs.

The one-year trial, set to cost $230,000, is an extension of the City Safe service and will target nuisance and anti-social behaviour.

The team, which will work seven days a week, will patrol suburbs including Dinsdale, Hillcrest and Hamilton East.

The goal is to make people feel safer in their communities, according to a statement from council.”

“The new staff come from a variety of backgrounds including police, military and security,” City Safe Operations manager Paul Blewman said.

“The team speak numerous languages including Chinese, Indian, Filipino and Korean which will be a benefit when working with Hamilton’s multicultural population.”

The service was agreed to by council in the 2019/2020 Annual Plan.

“Success of City Safe in the central city to deter begging and anti-social behaviour has resulted in an increase in complaints about such behaviour now occurring in a number of suburban areas where there is no City Safe presence,” according to a council document.

Important notice re TPPA ‘consultation’ meetings by MFAT

If you want to slide something under the public radar, do it just before Christmas, a time worn tactic. Important info here on meetings being conducted around NZ on TPPA which by my recollection was a no go for the new government/corporation that let’s face it isn’t really new… please share this info from It’s Our Future       EnvirowatchRangitikei

Our Government and MFAT may think that trying to keep Auckland’s meeting under wraps, and only visiting a small amount of cities is transparent consultation, we don’t.

Kia ora koutou

This week David Parker and New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) are leading a series of meetings around the country to discuss the TPPA. The meetings  kicked off in Dunedin last night, Auckland tonight, Tauranga tomorrow and Hamilton on Thursday see here for more details.

In collaboration with The Daily Blog, It’s Our Future is able to livestream tonight’s Auckland meeting. The meeting starts at 6pm and runs through until 7.30pm. The Daily Blog will be hosting the livestream which you will be able to find here.

Please share the link out through your networks. Our Government and MFAT may think that trying to keep Auckland’s meeting under wraps, and only visiting a small amount of cities is transparent consultation, we don’t. But we think a livestream of the meeting adds a bit more transparency to the process.

Mt Pirongia 1080 Poison Drop Breaches Manufacturer’s Warning

Published on Sep 13, 2014

On the 22nd of August, 2014, 32,000 kilos of 1080 poison bait was cast across Mt Pirongia, near Hamilton. It was enough poison to kill 240,000 people, almost twice the population of Hamilton…

A previous 2007 drop across the mountain was “hailed a success” by Waikato Regional Council, despite farmers raising concern about contamination, including to drinking water.

The New Zealand manufacturer’s (owned by NZ Govt) 1080 poison label includes the following warnings –

“Ecotoxic”,
“Toxic to terrestrial vertebrates.”
“Take measures to reduce of non-target animals being exposed to the toxin either through eating the baits or by scavenging the carcasses of poisoned animals.”
“Harmful to aquatic organisms.”
“Take all practicable steps to manage any harmful effects of a spillage including preventing baits from accidentally entering streams or waterways.”
“This product is toxic to wildlife. Birds and mammals feeding on carcasses of contaminated animals may be fatally poisoned.”
“Where practicable, the exposed bodies of all poisoned animals should be collected and destroyed by complete burning or deep burial in a landfill approved for hazardous substances. Dehydrated carcasses may remain dangerous to dogs or cats for an indefinite period. A single mouse poisoned by 1080 may contain enough poison to kill an adult dog.”
“Take measures to minimise the chance of baits accidentally entering any body of water.”

And … “Apply the product only as specified by label directions.” …

Flight charts released by the Department of Conservation reveal that 1080 poison was dropped directly into most streams and catchments, including to eight of the nine known water abstraction points. Poisoned carcasses have been left to rot in the streams, and animal welfare concerns have been raised. The Department of Conservation Mt Pirongia aerial drop, breached or ignored all of these warnings …

NZ dentist speaks out against fluoride

“New Zealand is one of the few countries in the world where some councils still choose to fluoridate the water. 97% of European countries do not fluoridate their water supplies. Fluoridation is increasingly being challenged around the world as awareness grows.” (Fluoride Free NZ)

Here is a 28 minute video from Vinny Eastwood’s channel featuring a NZ dentist, Dr Stan Litras from Wellington … he is speaking out against fluoride. Take note when a professional in the field speaks up. They are not generally speaking off the top of their heads or out of ignorance. The fluoride added to our water supplies are is in fact industrial waste. See the links on our Fluoride page.

Suicide rate triples in rural Waikato as international dairy prices halved

Stuff.co.nz

CHRIS GARDNER

“The suicide rate in rural Waikato tripled as international dairy prices halved, and numbers are expected to rise further.

Six Waikato farmers appear to have taken their own lives in the year ending June 30, 2015, figures released by the Ministry of Justice under the Official Information Act show.

Fraser Farm Finance director Don Fraser was not surprised by the number of suicides, and expected to see more this financial year.

* Fewer farms on the market as dairy takes a hit

* Dairy still coping with aftermath of floods

* Dairy global auction price rise

“We have had a lot of bad news,” Fraser said.

“The drop of income and the sheer weight of debt will probably see that rise over the next 12 months. It is the debt burden that makes them do it. It’s that sinking feeling you get when you get up every day and work for the bank….”

Comment:

At the mercy of fickle markets this is the sad outcome. People lose hope with the ruin that comes with disasters like flooding and subsequent debt. We were told long ago by men in governments that economic recessions are man made. The banking industry is one that has the ability to enslave and ruin people, caring little for its victims. Witness the foreclosures we see now world wide.
