There is an integral relationship between GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) and Glyphosate. The latter is sprayed on GM crops as the crops can withstand the herbicide, having been genetically altered to do so. Thereby, you are ingesting glyphosate retained in GE crops. In addition many crops are sprayed with Glyphosate prior to harvest to hasten the ripening process. This process is called ‘dessication’.
As can be seen in the Glyphosate information here, that product (found in the most widely used herbicide Roundup) has been classified by WHO (download the report) as a Class 2A carcinogen, it probably causes cancer, so is therefore unsafe to ingest. (Note, it is also found in most of your supermarket shelf, home gardening herbicides). It has commonly been found in the blood, urine and even breast milk of humans. Because GE foods are unlabeled then you have no way of knowing if you’re eating them, unless you are diligent and educate yourself on how to detect them. Typically, sugar beets, corn and soy are GM crops now. Buying organic is best, or growing your own.
There are videos here to educate yourself if you’re unsure of the safety of GM food.
