Planting Seeds


With lockdown continuing and spring approaching I’m focusing on the present. It’s helping me to stay focused and grounded, and not to spiral into the increasingly distressing land of ‘what if’.

I love growing plants from seed. There is something magical about these tiny, dry marvels that lifts my heart. I have trees in my garden that were once a speck of dust on the palm of my hand. Each time I plant seeds I am reminded of how humbling it is to contemplate the intricacies of nature. I am connected to the earth and I reflect upon my ability to grow a child inside my body in a process that was remarkably similar to the germination of a seed in the soil. Nature is energy efficient, and successful patterns get used over and over again.
