Deer Mass Poisoned – Lake Taupo Farmer Speaks Out

On the 3rd Of July 1080 poison bait was spread across 50,000 hectares of the Hauhungaroa Ranges, which are situated on Western Bays of Lake Taupo.

Beef and sheep farmer Lance Aldrige was informed by a farm hand that he had found four poisoned deer laying on the farm four days after the aerial operation was completed. A field trip was arranged so that Waikato Regional Councillors could be shown the impacts of the resource consents their Council issues.

Many more poisoned deer were found as the group made their way around the farm and bush edges. Lance Aldridge has had to endure the impacts of aerial poison drops for over 30 years ” This is the sort of thing a lot of people don’t see. They do the drops, and they walk away. They never see the aftermath like we see.” He goes on to explain on camera how the operations are difficult to live and work around.

  3. This happens all over NZ. Yes there aren’t that many other methods to deal with possums but why poison everything while you find an alternative? When one arises, there’ll be nothing left to use it on!
    Last week we watched a programme on Maori TTV, the guys were surprised to find few crawlies/kura in the creeks up in isolated bush. Kura akso wat 1080… so do people. So do eel, which people also eat and we export. Deer, trout, pigs, all creatures people eat. What will become of our heritage of sport for food??

    1. Catherine as a child I recall we had possum trappers everywhere. Our neighbour trapped regularly … they used to sell the skins and the meat was dog tucker. That to me was the only ecologically sound and humane way to deal with pests. They are indeed, as you point out, killing off our food supply. 😦

    2. I have hunted and been apart off massive possum control operations and have used and seen many methods off pest eradication.
      And yet it makes me sick to see such terriorable management at such a ment to be high leavel off pest control.
      This poison will destroy our amazing country if it continues.
      It is dividing our people into two mind sets in a very serious way this is not a good thing for our once peaceful and plentiful land very sad

I am a hunter in Australia though we may not be able to eradicate all feral deer we do manage them in controllable numbers, to reduce damage to native wildlife and fauna and farmers, we aim for a respectable ethical kill and harvest the body and hides, we have been succesfull in managing numbers as in feral goats rural areas. But this!? I do not understand, to me you are causing many problems for what? To protect the native wildlife and fauna? But you are killing the whole ecosystem! this is not a target specific poison this will kill anything that absorbs it. Being in water way’s will leach into other areas and non targeted animals and anything That eats those animals. I love and respect the wilderness this is such a shame this plan is genocide

  7. Surely, our waterways will get even worse when Maggie Barry and John Key get cracking on ridding the country of all pests by 2050. I presume 1080 will be used in achieving that goal.

  8. Pretty sure this would come under poaching… No fishing license and your still killing fish…my own personal thoughts would come under terrorist attack… A deliberate act of poisoning drinking water…who are they trying to get rid of? Tourist’ nz citizens.. Or eco systems

By poisoning the land they poison the people, they poison the history of this once awesome land, there endgame is scary for hunger will prevail, for where will the people Aquire some game, they will then poison the paddocks, the hills and the sky, spraying more roundup from the tips of there planes, this nation of poison the highest on earth, with more deaths per capita of cancer, close to our hearth, give the game to the hunters, bring the bounty back, get the kids of the pavements, and up on the tracks, a pelt or a skin, a dollar or more just look at this program for the sake of us all ..

Our corrupt government has already allowed the poisoning of all our pastures with sprays particularly glyphosate/roundup. As others have pointed out here, genocide, control of the food & means of survival.

  10. I have for years been proud of my country of birth even though I have lived away from it for much of this time. I cannot believe that any responsible body could sanction or condone the indiscriminate use of poisons, be it 1080 or any other. And to hear that, as a consequence, the waterways are being poisoned too is hideous in the extreme. They are the lifeblood of land. Clearly someone needs to have their collar felt. Dudley Arthur

    1. Dudley the country is very different now … it is no longer clean either environmentally or governmentally. Our gov is really a corporation (check out Agenda 21/2030 pages, and our elected PM is an ex banker who profits from our debt … (search ‘banking’ under categories). As you point out the waterways are the lifeblood of the land which indigenous peoples know and defend, and sadly have been much thwarted in that role here. It is ‘hideous’ alright & to the extreme.   11. I suspect an agenda that is so evil we would be staggered an horrified to even comprehend. This worldwide genocide is nothing new. With the banks and Monsanto and the like destroying all foodcrops and water sources the agenda is becoming more clear. De population seems to be the drive and control of all resources. Once this is achieved you can manage the people.
    Freedom on so many levels is coming to an end. A revolution is what is needed to rid ourselves of this tyranny.

      3. Marcel, I am meaning, they are killing other wild life as well, not just the pest kind. It’s been documented that even the so called protected species are being annihilated. Farmers everywhere report that their dogs and cattle are often poisoned also after these drops. 😦

    3. The main drive is that this is a false flag operation. We all know that no pest has ever been eradicated by man, through whatever means. Not one. Many “endangered” species have been eradicated, through “conservation/control” With more and mare people opting out of agenda 21, they have become the biggest single huge threat to the false governments under the guise of legit corporations. So, the more people getting self sufficient, the more panic breaks out around the corrupt boardroom tabled of the global elite.

      The only way the masses can be subdued is to medicate/numb/stun their thinking ability through the food chain, which is owned by……..
      1080 is the key here. It kills everything. When the shit hits the fan, the self sufficiency group just carry on living as if not much is happening. OK? Not OK! They will be able to teach, mentor and carry the rest op the world 100% outside of corporate governance. 1080 is simply a tool to ensure that whatever you consume that is still wild and free will be toxic. It is also a highly visible operation, in broad daylight that we are all consenting to. After all, we pay for every 1c of it. How hard is it to add anything to what they say is 1080?

      The corporations don’t own anything. Zero, Nothing. they only control through consent. The only way they can get any ownership is to slowly get people off all privately owned property, then transferring to the Crown. Have a look at a video called “Strawman” and you will see we own absolutely nothing anyway plus we have zero law protecting us, as our judicial system, the police, the councils are purely financial corporations. There is no government. It is that simple. The only right we have as humans is to obey a financial corporation.

      So Derek, you are 100% correct, but they keep us busy with all the technicalities of 1080, and we end up arguing about it instead of asking a single question: Do we want 1080? It has a yes or a no answer. The rest is easy. It is just a financial corporation. Please let me know what you think and where you stand on the 1080 crime against humanity.

  14. I am not against the use of 1080, but more against the manner in which is applied. This country has been aerial spreading this poison for nearly 60 years and what has been achieved? Only a slight reduction in the possum population if we are to believe the statistics and still the endangered fauna are in decline. We are told aerial application is the most cost effective method of pest control and no alternative methods exists. If 5% of the money allocated to the use of 1080 was channeled into R&D of alternative methods I’m sure, a solution would be found.

Watch what happens when these mass drops start killing people, then the misinformed public will know how deadly this poison is!   18. The government is not following the basic guidelines laid out by the makers of this crap. They should be burying ALL carcasses at least three feet deep. They told us at a meeting that this wasn’t cost effective. I would like to see a group of like minded folk go into these poisoned areas and collect as many carcasses as they can and take them to OSPRIs’ office and dump them on the doorstep and insist they follow the instructions for use. I can no longer take my 9 year old dog up to his favourite swimming hole for fear of him being poisoned. This is Aotearoa, we are supposed to be clean and green. The only green I see at the moment is the 1080 shit and the colour of money. Fuck 1080, and Fuck the government. They don’t deserve or earn my respect

  19. TB Free Ospri have no mandate to target deer for TB Vector control.They are breaching their authority by using aerial broadcast 1080 to kill deer. Both DOC and TB Free should be force to cease these indiscriminate killing drops until they can prove they have a reliable and consistent repellent. The EPRO repellent is very inconsistent and ad unreliable, plus the fact that the repellent does not mask the flavoring lure (cinnamon) in the bait. They need to complete trials using the repellent without cinnamon in the bait as a starting point. All are deer species, Tahr, Chamois are classified as GAME ANIMALS.

What it SHOULD SAY is something like Planes Drop Poison Pellets Targeting Deer Population for _______ (reason). Because this doesn’t answer the WHY as far as I can see. Be clear and succinct instead of confusing.

    1. Thank you for your feedback Cary. Actually the title is that of the video at YT which I did not title. I left the title as it was, as is usually my custom. I personally don’t find it confusing. Deer were mass poisoned actually. They are not implying deer were targeted. So ‘deer mass poisoned’ means just that. They are not telling us why, the point of the article is these are the killings the public (or the council that issues the consents) DON’T see. The GrafBoys have tirelessly spread this info at their own expense so the public can know what’s really happening. Mainstream is not doing that. It takes many many hours to create these videos, I can find no fault with their work.
